Kauai is fast becoming the “in” place to vacation in Hawaii.

This year Kauai has been king with Matt LeBlanc’s much publicized Kauai wedding, and visits from stars such as Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck and more.

Aside from those who come to visit there are the many movie stars who have homes on Kauai. So many that locals no longer pay attention to them when they see them in stores. That however, changed slightly with Matt LeBlanc’s wedding. At that time there were so many stars that no one was sure who was getting married and the paparazzi arrived in droves.

Vacationers love to come to Kauai to see one of the many festivals and this years Aloha festivals are underway with the best still to come.

The Aloha festivals first began in 1946, as Aloha Week - a cultural celebration of Hawai’i’s music, dance and history. A group known as the Jaycees Old-timers of Hawaii - had the vision to create a public celebration to honor Hawaii’s cosmopolitan heritage, and ended up creating a celebration which has itself become a state wide tradition.

On August 4th there is a section of Kauai that will have excitement, fast cars, rapidly beating hearts and pure adrenaline. If you like “Fast and Furious” it may be something you wish to see of you’re on a Kauai vacation - amateur and professional drag racing live.

A few time each summer the fast cars of Hawaii come out on the island of Kauai to compete in the acceleration race.

The GIRA (Garden Isle Racing Association) puts on the show with adults and kids as young as 8 competing. The GIRA first started in 1999 and is a non-profit organization created to promote safe Motorsports and responsible street driving.

Fast and exciting a regatta is always a blast, thus if you are vacationing on Kauai you may wish to go see the State Regatta competition hosted in Kauai August 4th.

A regatta is a boat race or series of boat races involving rowing, sailing or yachting. In this case it is a rowing canoe boat race, that will be held in Hanalei, Kauai.

The regatta races begin in April and end with the state races held the first week in August. Paddlers who participate in the race train by jogging, weight lifting and through aerobic conditioning, all with the hope of making it to the state competition where only the best race.

Kauai is an immensely beautiful place, it is the number two most widely sought after vacation resort place in the world, and it has also been host to Hollywood, being one of the most sought after places to film movies and TV shows.

Hollywood simply cannot get enough of the tropical island paradise the Hawaiian Islands have to offer, so much so that it is the only state in the nation with a state-owned and operated film studio which produced the long running “Hawaii Five-O” and Magnum P.I. All in all, over 200 movies have been filmed on the islands since 1913.

There is nothing quite like seeing a luau dance anywhere in the world but seeing it while on vacation in Kauai, is an experience you will remember forever. On Kauai you not only get to enjoy a dance like no other, but you get to see it with the dancers silhouetted by swaying palm trees and whales breaching in the background.

Indiana Jones is headed back to Hawaii and possibly Kauai for the super top secret production of the fourth movie in the series. So secret no one even knows what the movie will be called and the Hawaiian production community is referring to it as “The Untitled Generic Project”.

Indiana Jones has a history of showing up in the Hawaiian Islands. On Kauai he raced through the mystical jungle running from the natives through a barrage of poison arrows while retrieving an ancient golden idol and swinging to safety on a rope swing over a Kauai river. Many Kauai vacationers have been able to swing on that same rope over that same river that Jones jumped in during Raiders of the Lost Ark, while on a Kauai movie tour.

Perhaps if you’re on a vacation to Kauai you’ll run into Matt Damon and Ben Afflek, surfing, relaxing and brainstorming their next movie conglomeration.

The two first worked together on Good Will Hunting a full decade ago while sharing an apartment in Manhattan struggling to simply pay the bills. Good Will Hunting won an Oscar and changed their lives.

Now instead of brainstorming in a tiny apartment, they instead are getting their creative juices flowing while hanging out in a 13,000 a week rental house on the luxurious island of Kauai.

Premiering tomorrow on FUEL TV, the 24/7 action sports lifestyle network, will be a new documentary series profiling members of Kauai’s famous surf posse - the Wolfpak.

The documentary called “The 808″ tells the story of how the Wolfpak began in a seven part series. It also tells and how they have made their mark on the surfing world. It chronicles the life of this tight-knit group that has become the most powerful surf crew on Oahu’s North Shore.

Kauai, Hawaii is a virtual tropical Eden with some of the plushest most beautiful emerald greenery in the world. It is also a place filled with exotic beaches, fire stomping luaus, enchanting dining and luxurious Kauai rentals. Topping it all off Kauai has one of the hottest 4th of July celebrations anywhere.

If you are lucky enough to be there for the 4th, the largest red, white and blue celebration on the island is the Concert in the Sky, an annual fundraiser and fireworks show at the Vidinha Stadum in Lihue that benefits the Kauai Hospice.
